I know a lot of Detroit Lions fans are hoping for a possible reunion with former Lions second overall pick Ndamukong Suh. This is something that’s been brought up for years since Suh left for the Dolphins after the 2014 season.
There’s expectation that Suh will sign with a team at some point soon, but there hasn’t been any updates since he told CBS Sports in October that he had spoken with the Ravens.
A reunion with the Lions does make some sense from a few different angles. Suh has already played for Dan Campbell when he was with the Dolphins and Campbell was the teams’ interim head coach. He was also in Los Angeles with both general manager Brad Holmes and assistant general manager Ray Agnew. But are the Lions interested?
Lions head coach Dan Campbell was asked on Wednesday if the team had any interest in a reunion with Suh and this is what he had to say:
“Yeah, Brad’s looked at all of it. We haven’t overlooked anybody. Brad’s got it all up there. We’ve looked at everybody. So at this moment, we made the decision we felt like is best for us.”
The decision he’s referring to is the signing of Tyson Alualu on Tuesday. That doesn’t mean the door is closed for a Suh return, but it doesn’t really inspire any confidence that such a move could happen. If the Lions did look into Suh, they didn’t seem to come away thinking it was move they wanted to make at that time. If it was, they likely would have made it if they were interested.
There’s still five weeks left in the season. We’ll see if Suh winds up in Detroit or anywhere for that matter.
