The Detroit Lions have big game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. There’s a lot of homecomings in this one. This will be the first time that Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn have been back to New Orleans since their coaching days there. One former Saint turned Lion that was not expected to be there is Alex Anzalone. He missed practice all week with a hand injury. He was supposed to be an out for sure.
That’s not the case on Friday though. Anzalone has been given a designation of doubtful. Now that’s as close to out as you can get, but that points to a chance that Anzalone could travel with the team and potentially play on Sunday.
In terms of other designations, Hendon Hooker will be out for this game obviously and Jonah Jackson has a questionable designation. Jackson practiced all week and was a full participant on Thursday and Friday. He should be good to go.
On the Saints side, Marcus Maye, Rashid Shaheed, Pete Werner and Kendre Miller have all been ruled out. Blake Grupe and Eric McCoy are both questionable.
The names to really watch are Chris Olave and Cam Jordan. Both have a questionable designation, but both could miss this game. Olave is still in concussion protocol and if he can’t clear the final stage, he can’t play. Jordan did not practice all week, but he has missed one game in his entire 13 year career and you can bet that if he can get on the field, he’s going to want to keep that streak going. We’ll see how he feels though.
