The Detroit Lions played an all time shootout on Sunday and got a 41-38 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the closing seconds of the game. Now it’s time to take a look at how they graded out in this game via Pro Football Focus. Let’s look at the top dog and then the highs and the lows.
Top Dog
Amon-Ra St. Brown is this weeks highest graded Lion. He went out and had eight catches for a career high 156 yards and a touchdown. He was awarded with a 91.4 grade for this game. A solid outing.
Highs
- Jared Goff: 90.0: A solid outing from Goff. It seemed like he had a really hard time missing all day. He completed 69.7% of his passes for 333 yards and two touchdown
- David Montgomery: 86.8: Montgomery looked like a guy that didn’t just miss a few games. He went off for 116 yards and a touchdown. He had a huge 75-yard touchdown that really set the tone for the run game.
- Penei Sewell: 83.1: Sewell shut down Joey Bosa. You didn’t even know Bosa was playing in this game. He had one tackle all day. This is now the ninth game in a row this season where Sewell has not allowed a sack.
- Alim McNeil: 86.2: McNeil isn’t the highest graded Lion on defense. Malcolm Rodriguez is. But he only played five snaps, so I’m not counting that. The Lions never got home, but they got some good push up front. Especially on the goal line. McNeil spearheaded that.
Lows
- Brian Branch: 49.1: The worst grades are all pretty much secondary guys this week. It’s pretty obvious as to why. This was Branch’s worst game of his rookie year.
- Kerby Joseph: 43.9: Joseph had a magical interception in this game and that was awesome, but he struggled a lot down the stretch of the game. A lot of missed opportunities and showing up late to moments.
- Cameron Sutton: 43.2: Sutton could not stop Keenan Allen. He gave up six catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns.. A very bad day.
- Kalif Raymond: 55.2: I want to include one offensive guy here. I don’t really know what went into this grade. Raymond played 17 snaps on Sunday and he had a couple big plays. Specifically his 41 yard catch and run in the fourth quarter.
