On Wednesday the Detroit Lions had an alarming injury report that featured every running back on their 53-man roster on it. It wasn’t a full fledged practice though. The Lions backed off on things to start the week and had more of a walk though than anything. Jahmyr Gibbs and Brian Branch were included as limited participants and Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell couldn’t give us any update on injuries because of the nature of the practice.
On Thursday we got those updates, Both Gibbs and Branch participated in a full on practice with the Lions. That’s a very good sign that both rookies could be returning on Sunday against the Ravens. The Lions need them both back. Especially Gibbs. David Montgomery could be out until after the bye and Craig Reynolds is suddenly injured. This team needs a lead back. We can finally see what this kid can do this weekend.
As for Reynolds, he’s back at practice after missing Wednesday with a toe and hamstring injury. That’s a big one as well since the Lions could use the help in the back field with Montgomery out.
As for the rest of the practice report, here’s who sat out on Thursday:
- David Montgomery
- Jonah Jackson
