Lions vs Buccaneers: Branch and Gibbs OUT Sunday, LaPorta Questionable

Yardbarker

The Detroit Lions have a big game on Sunday against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that is out performing their expectations for sure. Who will the Lions have with them on the field in Tampa this Sunday? We don’t quite know yet and probably won’t until inactives drop on Sunday. What we do have is game designations. Here they are.

  • Brian Branch: Out
  • Jahmyr Gibbs: Out
  • Jonah Jackson: Out
  • Zonovan Knight: Out, should be placed on season ending IR Saturday
  • Emmanuel Moseley: Out, should also be placed on IR Saturday
  • James Mitchell: Out
  • Josh Paschal
  • Sam LaPorta: Questionable
  • Khalil Dorsey: Questionable

That’s pretty much the way the week has been trending for the Lions. LaPorta showing up in the injury report on Thursday came out of nowhere. According to Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell, it’s a calf strain. he did return to practice Friday. LaPorta said afterwards that his calf flared up on Wednesday and that he expects to play Sunday.

St. Brown returned to practice on Wednesday and had a limited practice on Tuesday and then followed that up with back to back full practices. He has no designation. He’ll play.

As for the Bucs, Mike Evans will play on Sunday per Todd Bowles. He will pose the biggest threat to the Lions defense this weekend. We’ll update this story once their designations drop.
