With training camp beginning and another NFL season on the horizon, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell had to prove he’s still in elite shape.
As many people know, the Lions’ leader was a tight end in the NFL not too long ago and played 10 seasons and 114 games. If you didn’t know any better, you might think Campbell could still get a few snaps with the guys.
Campbell, who turned 47 in April, is still a workout fanatic and brings all kinds of energy to every practice, which is one of the things his players love about him. And on Sunday, Campbell continued a budding Lions training camp tradition: joining his players in their up-downs.
SLOW YOUR ROLL: Detroit Lions to place CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) on PUP list, insist no set backs
The moment went viral last season and was featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” as the coach huffed and puffed through the workout. Some people loved the moment, and some took the opportunity to criticize Campbell, but either way, he obviously didn’t care about what people had to say during the offseason and went right back to work again on Sunday.
The clip was shared out by the Lions’ social media team with the caption “A #LionsCamp tradition unlike any other!”
After a red-hot stretch to end the 2022-23 season, expectations are sky-high for the Lions this year. Many people got familiar with the team from last year’s “Hard Knocks” season and when they capped off the season with a win on Sunday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers, it cemented their status as fan favorites.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the Lions as favorites to win the NFC North. If they prove the oddsmakers right, it would be their first divisional title since 1993.
