Lions’ Family Fest canceled because of Beyonce/WWE schedule conflicts

Preseason event hosted 18,000 fans last season

The Detroit Lions will be unable to hold their annual Family Fest practice at Ford Field this season, a team source told The Detroit News on Monday.

Scheduling conflicts with WWE Summer Slam, the second-biggest pro wrestling event of the year, and a Beyonce concert made scheduling the Lions practice unfeasible.

The Family Fest typically takes place prior to the first preseason game. Last year, approximately 18,000 fans attended the practice.

The Lions will play two of their three preseason games at home in 2023 and receive visits from both the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars for joint practices in Allen Park.
