For Sunday’s home season finale, and the first time all season, the Detroit Lions will be breaking out their throwback unis.
Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears is the finale of the 2022 home season for the Detroit Lions. Yes even if they make the playoffs, since any postseason games they might play will be on the road. Special things usually occur on those kind of days, as fan appreciation if nothing else.
In line with that, the Lions will be wearing their throwback uniforms for the first time this season. Blue jerseys, gray pants, plain gray helmet, etc. The team social media account revealed it on Friday.
Also part of Sunday’s festivities is a halftime show featuring local artist Quinn XCII, and the sale of an exclusive apparel line in collaboration with professional gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Hall of Famer Barry Sanders will also be presenting one lucky Lions’ season ticket holder with a free renewal for 2023.
Detroit Lions wearing their throwback uniforms against the Bears was spoiled early in the week by Dan Campbell
During his weekly Tuesday appearance on “Stoney and Jansen with Heather” on 97.1 The Ticket, Lions head coach Dan Campbell let the throwback uniform news slip a little early.
It feels good to be home. I feel like we’ve been on the road for more than just a couple of weeks, so I think this will be just what the doctor ordered,” Campbell said. “We’ll get back to the basics for us, and we get to come back home with our crowd to finish it out. We’ll be in our throwback unis, so it’s going to be freakin’ outstanding, man.”
The Lions last wore their throwbacks in the 2021 regular season finale against the Green Bay Packers, a game which they won. Hopefully there are still some winning vibes in them this time around.
