Lions quarterback Jared Goff is a top-end fantasy streamer in Week 13 vs. Jaguars

SideLion Report

Jared Goff has been clear fantasy bench material for most of the last several weeks, but here’s why he’s a top-end streamer for Week 13.

Through Week 4, Jared Goff was QB5 in fantasy football. Since then, he’s QB25 with only three games where he has topped 14.5 fantasy points. In his biggest yardage game over the latter stretch, Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins (321 yards), he was outside the top-12 fantasy signal callers for the week.

I’ve been in on Goff as a fantasy lineup option multiple times this year, with more misses than hits. He’s coming off a solid showing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12 (240 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions), and his matchup in Week 13 is hard to ignore.

Rushing production from quarterbacks has hurt the Jacksonville Jaguars at times this season. But the bottom line is this. They are allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season (19.56; Yahoo! scoring), and here’s what quarterbacks comparable to Goff have done against them (Yahoo! scoring).

Week 1: Carson Wentz-313 yards, four touchdowns, two interceptions, 14 rushing yards; 29.72 fantasy points
Week 6: Matt Ryan-389 yards, three touchdowns; 27.16 fantasy points
Week 9: Derek Carr-259 yards, two touchdowns; 18.36 fantasy points

We know how bad Goff typically looks when pressured. So the Jaguars being top-10 in the league in pressure (24 percent; eighth) and hurry rate (10.4 percent, fourth) is a red flag. But the Bills have the same pressure rate as Jacksonville, and Goff was fine against them.

Sunday’s game at Ford Field is lined up to be high-scoring. Goff may push toward 40 pass attempts as a result, with production to follow in a nice-looking matchup.

With only two teams (Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers) on a bye and the fantasy playoffs looming, streaming a quarterback may not be on the radar of very many fantasy managers this week. But Goff is easy starter material in two-quarterback leagues, and those seeking a fill-in for Kyler Murray in one-quarterback leagues should have the Lions’ signal caller high on their list of options.
