As the Detroit Lions’ roster faces some turnover this offseason, these four players don’t deserve another season with the team in 2022.

As the Detroit Lions move forward from a 3-13-1 campaign, it’s safe there aren’t that many players from the 2021 roster who will still be on the team in 2023, 2024, etc. With a fairly long list of free agents, unrestricted and restricted, some of that turnover will happen this offseason as people are outright replaced and depth is upgraded.

When a team has the second-worst record in the NFL, there are plenty of players whose performances fell short. The Lions also had a fairly young team that got even younger as injuries thinned the roster over the course of last season, so not everyone who didn’t perform well and could theoretically be gone is automatically going to be gone before next season. There’s something to be said for developing players, which this coaching staff seems able to do, or giving players a chance to get healthy and perform to their ability.

But based on their efforts in 2021, contract status, the ability/need to replace them or simply a numbers game at their position, these four Detroit Lions don’t deserve another season with the team in 2022.
