Besides free agency and the draft, here are five wide receivers the Detroit Lions could trade for this offseason.

Among the needs for the Detroit Lions this offseason is at wide receiver. Depth is one thing that will be on the radar, and receivers coach Antwaan Randle El has laid out a template for an “X” receiver to go with Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Outside of free agency and the draft, the trade market could be fruitful for wide receivers. General manager Brad Holmes is surely starting to survey what options might be out there on that avenue, with an extra first-round pick this year and in 2023 to consider parting with as part of a trade package without having to cede a ton of overall draft capital.

5. Denzel Mims, New York Jets

Over two seasons with the Jets since being drafted in the second round out of Baylor, Mims has a total of 31 receptions for 490 yards. Even with multiple wide receivers out late this season, he couldn’t get on the field consistently as he finished the campaign with just eight catches.

The Jets appear to be done with Mims, and he surely won’t be on the roster come Week 1 of the 2022 season. But rather than cut him, a late-round pick (even likely conditional) can probably be recouped in a trade. The Lions could easily consider taking that flier.
