Barry Sanders and Tom Izzo are returning to the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club.

The Lions Hall of Famer and the Michigan State men’s basketball coach will be among the celebrities who take part in the Area 313 celebrity scramble on Tuesday, June 29.

They also took part in a similar event that was wildly popular and one of the biggest successes at the inaugural tournament in 2019. All celebrity events were on hiatus last year due to COVID-19 safety protocols.

NFL receiver Larry Fitzgerald, LPGA player Lexi Thompson and second-ranked World Long Drive competitor Maurice Allen also will be compete.

PGA Tour players Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Bubba Watson, Harold Varner III, Jason Day and Rickie Fowler will captain four-player teams in the competition on holes 14-16.

One difference this year is that the event will only be open to fans who buy a special ticket. Fans must pledge at least $313 to the Faces of Area 313 charitable program.

The tournament also will feature a traditional Wednesday pro-am, with more details expected closer to the event that runs June 28 to July 4.
